  • Kyungpook National University was selected for the ¡®2018 Core Research Support Facility Creation Project¡¯ hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

The Core Research Support Facility Creation Project is a project to create facilities where existing research equipment, which was scattered throughout the university and used by laboratory, is gathered in one place for common use by research field or equipment function. A total of 10 universities applied for this project, and 3 universities, including Kyungpook National University (Mass Spectrometry convergence research Center), were selected.

Kyungpook National University's head of research is Professor Sunghwan Kim (Department of Chemistry, College of Natural Sciences), and Professors Kwanghyeon Ryu and Sangkyu Lee, Department of Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy, will participate as co-researchers.

The Ministry of Science and ICT supports the cost of moving and installing scattered existing equipment to core research support facilities. The selected universities plan to start transferring the equipment in September and begin full-fledged joint use from December.

Professor Sunghwan Kim said, ¡°We will create an environment where the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy share mass spectrometers, which are expensive equipment, with the local community as well as the university to help strengthen the research competitiveness of universities and regions.¡±
